News Hack Arizona Project: Relationship between dropout rate and poverty in Southern Arizona schools
Through the joint effort of teammates Marianna Dale, Alexis Huicochea and Luis Carrasco, Anthony helped create a visual, web-based story that looks into the relationship between dropout rate and poverty in South Arizona schools.
The project took “Dirty Data” collected from the Arizona Department of Education, and created a organized, clean depiction of the relationship between students who are enrolled in free and reduced lunches, and the area dropout rates. We cleaned data compiled from 2011 to 2015.
Skills used in this project were data mining, data compiling, geocoding, map creation and web design.
SQLite, Microsoft Excel, Tableau and Google Fusion Tables were used in this project.
Named after the Japanese depiction of a rumbling tummy, this personal blog captures a look into the wonderful world of Anthony Reyes. The blog covers a variety of topics, including geek fandom, personal stories, dance and music.
This blog also features fun interactive stories, such as social media collaborated narratives and exaggerated “Onion” style interpretations of Anthony’s day.
The blog hopes to connect comedy and silliness with deep, emotional, personal stories.
